The Right Attitude of Life Toward God Hebrews 11:6
Whether people want it or not, they are related to God. There is no exception in spite of being an unbeliever or idolater. People as a creation are related to God, the Creator. In Genesis 1:26-27 it is written: "Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground"". So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
And Genesis 2:7 is written that "the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being". Even though somebody insisted that all things in the universe come into being by chance and human beings result from evolution, it is useless to deny the natural fact that man is a creation and God is a Creator.
Therefore, nobody can't be related to God. Man is also connected with the government and the way of God. It is said that "All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him: What have you done?" (Da 4:35) God is a governor of history. Everybody is under the hand of God.
Finally, people are related to the judgement of God. In 2Co 5:10, it is written: "For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good of bad". All the people who had lived in the world should stand in the last judgement seat of Christ without exception.
Therefore, no one can live without being mindful of God. The most important thing, while we are living in this world, is how to live with God. Today, I'd like to share faith as being among the fitting attitudes to God. We should live by faith in God. I will explain in detail about the faith we have to have.
First, we should have a faith in the existence of God.
There is no place to try to prove the existence of God formally in the Bible, which proclaims the existence of God as a natural fact. The first page of the Bible is says: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". The Bible doesn't illustrate the existence of God but we sometimes try to do so for some good people who want to believe in God but who meet the barrier of reasonable understanding.
However, to those who do not believe in God, it is useless to illustrate the existence of God. To the people who deny the existence of the sun with their eyes closed, in the same way, it is also useless to tell the truth that there is a sun. Not believing in the existence of God, the Creator is the worst ignorance and misfortune. In the New Testament, Hebrews 11;6 it is written: "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him". The faith that "God who created the heavens and the earth exists" is the first starting point in the relationship between God and human beings.
Second, we should have faith in the character of God.
Unless God reveals himself for what he is, nobody can know him. It is impossible for us to understand completely about God. However, God revealed his character as much as we need to know. What we believe about God and what we depend on him for, means that our belief in God is revealed through his character. The character of God is revealed in the Bible. I'll arrange the aspects of God's character into 12 kinds. God is the only one. God is a spirit with personality. So, God can have direct communication with men created in his own image. God is everlasting and almighty.
God can perform whatever he does except that which is against his character. He is omniscient. His knowledge is perfect. God knows at the same time about our past, present and future. God is everywhere. His wisdom and understanding are limitless. God is sovereign. God can do whatever he wants. God is holy and righteous. God is sincere. God is love. God is good. The meaning of believing in God includes the belief in God with these character traits. These revelations about the character of God informs us of how foolish the idolaters are. God is spirit, the only one, everlastingly unchangeable, almighty, everywhere, sovereign, holy, righteous, understanding, sincere, lovely and good. To live by faith is not only the most reasonable attitude for our lives but is also our greatest pleasure and honor.
Third, we should have faith in the truth and grace of salvation given by God.
The Bible reveals that all people are sinners. So they are to be judged and go to destruction. Human beings had became sinners through Adam because he was disobedient to the words of God and ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. So all the descendants of Adam have became sinners.
In Romans 5:12, it is written: "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned". God set up the plan and made it into motion to redeem the sinners and sent out his only son. God put the responsibility for our sins on Him who had no sin. Jesus Christ bled to death by nailing him on the cross but, rose from the dead in three days. To those who believe in him, he gave them salvation and righteousness.
In Romans 5:18-19 it is written: "Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous". To live by faith in favor of redemption through Jesus Christ is a suitable attitude for life toward God.
Fourth, we should have faith in the promises of God. He gave lots of promises for our happiness. The New and Old Testament are the promises of God for our lives. While we are living in this trouble world, he promised that he will come as a holy spirit so as to lead, teach, help, be with us, comfort and heal us. He gave us the promise that in all things God works for good. We should take hold of these promises and get comfort, confidence and peace. We can rejoice, pray and get answers. Besides, he promised us the blessed future.
There is a world apart from the death and resurrection of our body. It is written: "So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown in dishonor is raised in glory; that is sown in weakness, is raised in power; that is sown a natural body, is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body" (1Co 15:42-44). The promises of God will be fulfilled thoroughly by God with almighty, everlastingly unchangeable and sincere character. Therefore, those who believe in these promises are the truly blessed ones. The belief in God is a belief which has many detailed meanings as well. It is written: "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him" (Heb 11:6). and: "But my righteous ones will live by faith....."(Heb 10:38).
Dears, I bless you in the name of Jesus that you would live by faith in the existence of God, the character of God, the grace of salvation and the promises of God.
