For an account of LAZARUS

When a man makes a decision or acts in a certain way, there is something that caused it. We call it motive or opportunity. Motive is the element which gives decisive influence to the existence and life of human being and which brings about significant results.

Today, I will share the God's truth by with a study of biblical understanding about the attitude we should take to life.

Firstly, The motives we have in certain ways while we are living give great influence to our lives.

People make decision and act by facing several motives. We can divide motive into two components, Intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation is the motive which arises voluntarily. Extrinsic motivation is the motive which arises by external stimulation. Intrinsic and extrinsic motivations are numerous and have compound character? The important thing is or which motives we have and how many we have. The motives of a person or society assert decisive influence over happiness and unhappiness, rise and fall with prosperity and decay. Affecting the rise a fall of society, producing prosperity or decay.

Secondly, the motive with which people regard the facing object or circumstance is very important to the result.

We can see the cases which caused different motives for the same object or circumstance? When Israelites camped on the edge of the Red Sea, King Pharaoh changed his mind. He pursued the people with chariot and horsemen from Egypt. Seeing this, people poured out their complaints to Moses and God, going this way and that. Then Moses prayed to God. And he said to people, "Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again." In the same situation, the Israelites motive was to hold a grudge against God and not to trust in God. But, Moses's motive was to long for God and to rely on God.

The one who says that he is often tempted is the one who makes the circumstance and object be the motive to be tempted. This kind of person is the one whose spirit is weak. The saint whose spirit is strong is never tempted. For the cause which makes others be tempted, strong saints make the cause as example and warning and the motive to lessons. And this motive lets him rely on God more, and strive to live the godly life.

According to today's main scripture, we will see two contradictive kinds of people. At that time, in Jerusalem, there were crowds of many people who gathered to participate in the Passover. The most interesting story for them was that Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. For this, it was written, "Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him." (John 12:9-11)

On account of Lazarus, many Jews came to believe in Jesus. On the other hand, the high priest devised a plot to kill Jesus Christ and Lazarus. What motive people have for the same object and circumstance is each person's own personal matter and responsibility. While many people saw Lazarus and believed in Jesus, the motive of Saducees and the chief priests was to kill Jesus and Lazarus.

I hope all of you decide that whatever the circumstance and object are, your motive is to rely on God and to live under gods laws. If you have this attitude, whatever the object and circumstance are, you will have the motive to progress and improve your faith.

Thirdly, we should decide to act on and provide good motive to others?

It is very important to influence others motive in a positive way. It is very unfortunate to influence unfaithful motive in others and to be the one to cause them to fall into temptation. Ten explorers who finished exploring Canaan caused the Israelites to complain and to disobey God. After coming back from exploring Canaan they reported to the Israelites and Moses, "We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit. But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large.

We even saw descendants of Anak there." and added "We can't attack those people; they are stronger than we are." Consequently ten explorers died of the disaster caused by God and people wandered in the desert for 38 years afterwards. Those in Egypt who were over 20 years old didn't enter the land of Canaan and died in the desert. This is a historic event which shows how tragic it is when one destroys others faith and causes them to fall into temptation. Even though others can have a motive of unfaithfulness and ungodliness on account of another person, there are some cases in which this person is not to blame.

Joshua and Caleb strived to raise up a motivation of faith and hope amongst the twelve explorers. Caleb said, "We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it." But after people listened to unfaithful reports, they shouted that they wanted to go back to Egypt, holding a grudge against Moses and Aaron. Caleb shouted to them, "Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them."(Numbers 14:9) This cry motivated people to stone Joshua and Caleb to death. In this case, Joshua and Caleb were not responsible. This caused Israelites to be hardened. We have to have motive for the happiness and success of others.

Please try to give positive motive to those who are disappointed. And try to provide people who do not devote themselves to serving the Lord with the motive to do so. First of all, try and think of ways to provide the unbelievers with the motive to have faith. In today's main scripture, it was written, "for on account of Lazarus many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him." Where the name was written into "Lazarus", I hope your names could also be written. I would like you to give many people the motive to have hope and to let them serve the Lord and to believe in Jesus Christ.

Fourth, the motive that we will live with is the greatest theme of our lives.

In 1 Samuel chapter 17, we pay particular attention to the scene of battle between David and Goliath. David's motive for fighting Goliath lay in his fear of God. David said to the Israelite soldiers, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?" and he went ahead of King Saul to fight Goliath. David was confident in his motive to fight David in spite of the danger placed on his life. That's why "living God was defiled." He couldn't endure it. Although he was in danger, he couldn't see Gods honor harmed. His motive to dash toward Goliath was induced by his fear of god. If you don't care about covering the glory of God and defiling his honor, and your motive is for private benefit and greed, you are not a real christian. If you do something with the motive of self-fame and physical benefit, it will be meaningless and useless. It would not be good, to lack the motive to revere and love God. Most people come to Jesus Christ with the motive of solving problems such as those of a physical, economical and psychological matter. It is a good way.

However, after meeting Jesus Christ, you have to be the one to live by the motive to fear and love God. You should be the saint with the motive to glorify and to please God. No one is stronger and wiser than God. No life is more blessed and beautiful than this life. I hope, no matter what circumstance and object you face, all of you have the motive to rely on God more and live by gods laws. And please make the decision to put this into practice and provide blessed motive to many people. I hope you do everything by following the motive to fear God and love God.
