“And yet the modest, Harvard-educated lawyer has a riveting story. The son of migrant workers in Texas, he grew up in a house his dad built, sharing two bedrooms with seven siblings. With no running hot water, the family boiled their bathwater on the stove. No phone meant that Gonzales had to walk to the corner pay phone to call his friends. Even the town’s name was Humble.” This is the Time’s article describing one of candidates for the Supreme Court Justices. Alberto Gonzales….47 years old.

When I read this article, I was thinking about his success. As you know, the Supreme Court Justice is the highest court in this nation. The Supreme Court is very important institution in our nation. It always deals with constitution. When the bill is passed in low and upper chamber (congress), the President signs the bill. Before it is ratified, the Supreme Court makes sure whether the bill is constitutional or not. When the Supreme Court Justice finds that the bill they passes is unconstitutional, both the congress and president have to review the bill again. In other words, the bill cannot be ratified without the affirmation by the Supreme Court Justice. Not all cases, but most of them are.

To become the Supreme Court Justices is the most difficult work. Because the position is very important, it requires much legal, social, and political experience.

The person that I introuduced today, Alberto Gonzales, has become one of candidates for the Supreme Court Justice. He is only 47 years old; all of the supreme court justices are over 55 years old. I think that he must be the youngest supreme court justice in American history.

He experienced difficulties when he was young. Can you imagnine that you should boil the water to take shower? Can you imagnine that you should share two bedrooms with other 6 family members? This is not good condition or environment to live. But Alberto Gonzales has overcome these difficulties. How? I think that he probably had a dream for the future.

Today. I want to introuduce Joseph who was sold by his brothers and become the governor in Egypt. Let’s read Genesis 37:5-10. Joseph shared his dream with his brothers and father. They didn’t trust in him. His brothers hated him more….. Why he shared his dream with others? He could prevent from become the slaves for Egyptians. Because God made him dreamed of it. In other words, God gave him a dream.

It is a long story how he became the governor in Egypt. It must be really difficult to become the governor in another country. They must be the resons why the Egyptian king and his ministers chose Joseph for the governor in Egypt. Let’s read Genesis 41:38. “Pharaoh asked them, “Can we find anyone like this man, one in whom is the spirit of God?” They found that God was with Joseph.

As Joseph dreamed before, the dream came true. Let’s read 42:6-9. What happened? His brothers came for the food and bowed down before Joseph.

I want to share the story about Joseph.. Joseph who saved His borthers’ and father’s life because he dreamed of. If Joseph didn’t become the governor in Egypt, the Jospeh’s family would not survive due to starvation and feminine.

The story of Joseph is not just personal story, but story of God.
We shold learn something from Joseph. God woked through Joseph. God prepared for His people who were experiencing starvation. God showed His love through feminine and starvation.

Ladies and Gentalemen. My frineds. My brothers and Sisters. We know struggles and difficulties are not positive things or soemthing that we want to avoide forever. But God gives us such difficulties because He wants to show His love.

Joseph''s story seems to be God''s mistake. God never makes mistakes. Through Joseph, God saved His people. Don''t be afraid. Don''t be discouraged due to your difficulties and struggles. God will show you the way and teach you His love.

Let us pray.
Lord. Through Joseph''s life We have learned that You never make msitake. We want to believe in you and build presonal relationship with you. I want to be the person who can influence others in Your love and plan. Thank you for givning us wonderful time to think of you and your love. In you name, we pray. Amen
